The Wedding Day

Dear Brimley,

The wedding was lovely! Carly and Jay were a beautiful couple and a good time was had by all!

I am only attaching a few of the thousands of pictures that were taken. I will assemble an album for you upon by arrival back at the Manor. I did want you to see the happy couple and one of the stars of the day, the lovely neighborhood cat, Tina. Notice the festive ribbon around her neck!

Father Daniel gave a most amusing toast…video to follow. And I got everyone to dance. You would have been most amused at the frivolity. The couple left for a romantic one night get away to the Jefferson Hotel (where we had tea earlier in the week). I don’t think we could have had a more perfect day.

Day 8 : The Day before the Nuptials

Dear Brimley,

I am sorry to be writing you so late in the evening. I know it must be past one of your many bedtimes. But it has been a VERY busy day getting ready for the wedding tomorrow.

We did have lots of help though and I have included pictures of some of the helpers! Brooke drove up from Greensboro and Robin and Shannin got here after a long drive from Seneca. I think everything is all set to go for the festive nuptials.
I will be sending lots of pictures tomorrow of the festivities!

Day 7: The Road to the Nuptials

Day 7: The Road to the Nuptials

Dear Brimley,

I hope you are doing well and setting the standard for all the other Manor felines. They have the utmost regard for your comportment….
We took the day (and night) “off” from the wedding preparations and traveled about 2 hours from Richmond to the town of Staunton, Virginia. It is a quaint little place filled with restaurants and shops and the American Shakespeare Playhouse. We spent the afternoon walking around (it was a bit overcast and drizzly, however.) We did stumble into  a very unusual “camera museum” where we were held captive for at least thirty minutes by a round faced octogenarian who was extremely interested in telling us every detail about his historical collection.

We did escape in time for some more Indian dinner fare and then we were off to the theatre. Oh Brimley, you would have loved the raucous atmosphere and the merriment of this production of Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was very much in the style of the original productions in Shakespeare’s time (only slightly before your time).
We head back to Richmond this morning and resume our preparations! The weather forecast is looking favorable for Saturday, I am pleased to report.

Day 6--The Road to the Nuptials

Day 6—The Road to the Nuptials

Dear Brimley,
Much like you, we had a “stay-at-home” day today. But we were hard at work (that is not to say you were not hard at work, but we all know you do enjoy extended leisure moments on all of the Manor furniture….).
I was certainly dutiful in my exercise regimen. That robot monster-like contraption I took a picture of is called an “elliptical” machine. Trust me, Brimley, this is not for the likes of you. After thirty minutes, my legs are all wobbly and I am “glowing” profusely.
Mistress Carly and I peeled about 400,000 uncooperative boiled eggs. That was a tedious affair and I felt like you needed to see documentation regarding that event. The other food photograph is the chili which is being prepared for the crowd who will appear on Friday…some will be weary travelers and some friends who are coming to help prepare for the wedding festivities.
The last picture I am including is Father Daniel who worked with Jay to install a ceiling fan for the young couple’s bathroom. He is a handy man to be sure. I think I will keep him.
Mistress Carly sends her fondest regards to her “Mr. Kitty.”

Day 5--The Road to the Nuptials

Dear Brimley,

Well we had a busy day buying wedding party food and scouting some local antique shops for part of the yard décor. I won’t provide much detail on the different stores, but we did happen upon an enormous flower place that sold flowers to businesses. We were able to secure many beautiful roses for the wedding---- worthy of an English garden!
I am including a picture of a VERY unsettling and fearsome doll we ran across in the antique store. Please don’t have any nightmares upon viewing it. Just be reassured I did not buy it for the Manor.

I hope you are keeping well-groomed. I know it is a tedious process, but Father Daniel worries about your appearance.
