Day 3 ---“The
Road to the Nuptials”
Dear Brimley,
I meant to inquire about your health and happiness
yesterday. Mistress Carly sends her deepest affection and regards. She regrets
you were unable to visit, but she understands your commitment to the Manor and
its upkeep.
You would have certainly enjoyed our outings yesterday. I
began with a tour of 160 acres of nursery trees, plants, and flowers. The young
couple were picking out flora and fauna to adorn their yard for the wedding and
for permanent placement in their yard. One of the picture I am enclosing is an
oak leaf hydrangea--- much different than the blue ones on the Manor grounds.
Then we traveled to what is called a Farmer’s Market. I took
a picture of a very exotic animal you have likely not encountered before---- a
bulldog. He is perhaps British in origin and seemed like a very sedate and
overstuffed fellow. And speaking of stuffing…. All four of us fell off the
sugar wagon to eat the world’s most delicious donut. A team of Mennonites are
hard at work every Saturday at the market preparing these legendary confections.
It is the first time in my life I have ever stood in line to purchase a donut.
But I can tell you, Brimley, it was worth the wait. I believe you can see by
the photographic evidence that we were quite giddy with delight.
