Day 4: Road to the
Nuptials
Dear Brimley,
Work continues on preparing for the wedding. I don’t believe
I told you that it is happening in the backyard. I have been checking the
weather forecast everyday, and it is holding at only 20 percent chance of rain,
so I think that all will be well. But much food will be served, so there are
lots of preparations going on.
I did have a delightful interlude, however…. Mistress Carly
and I were taken by one of her dear friends to afternoon tea at the Jefferson
Hotel. You would have been amazed at the tower of sandwiches and confections
that they brought to us, and their special blend of cinnamon and orange spiced
tea was exceptionally delicious. I am enclosing pictures for your review.
Please do not be startled by the alligator sculpture, “Ponty.” That was a tribute
to the alligators who used to be kept in the lobby “pool” in earlier times at
the hotel. I am happy to report they were phased out.
The young couple also took us for an early Father’s Day
dinner to an Indian restaurant that served what Father Daniel proclaimed was
the best Indian food he had ever eaten. And although I was a bit untidy with
spilling rice and appetizers and dessert on the table, I too thought it was a
superb dining experience.
Hope you are keeping things in order and not letting your
feline charges get out of line.
